Wetlands are found in our own backyards throughout British Columbia and are important to both animals and people. Wade into wetlands with us to discover how animals use these unique habitats as homes, hotels, restaurants and nurseries. This workshop engages teachers in a wide range of exciting hands-on activities, methods and resources designed to jump-start K-7 science programs. These flexible activities do not require expensive scientific equipment or expertise and can be adapted to different grade levels. Each activity is designed to support or be incorporated into a unit of study. Explore a variety of adaptations that animals exhibit and allow them to survive in the wetlands. Examine how different animals use the wetland environment as you study clues that have been left behind. Participants will have the opportunity to create a track tale to solve the mystery using the clues. This workshop integrates science and language arts. |
