Science World

Science World celebrates learning. We are dedicated to creating entertaining, hands-on art, science and technology environments, both at our facility in Vancouver as well as throughout the rest of the province. Science World's major educational goal is to inspire people and help them become more effective learners.

Everything Science World offers--from exhibits and programs to hands-on workshops for teachers--emphasizes exploring, experimenting, reflecting and questioning. As an arts, sciences and technology centre, we present entertaining, interactive phenomena which motivate people to think about how and why things work in the wonderful ways they do.

As one of the partners in Engaging Science, we are taking hands-on science workshops to elementary teachers all around British Columbia. Enjoy the playful, experiment-based workshop on motion and forces called A New Spin on Motion. Learn about circuits, conductors and electromagnets in Enlightening Electricity. Discover the history of flight and the Bernoulli effect in Identified Flying Objects. And play new musical instruments as you learn about sound in Sound Bites. All are guaranteed to be fun and rich in content. Each is filled with great, inexpensive activities teachers will love to use in their classrooms. Who knows, workshop participants may grow to love physics as much as we do!

With our Engaging Science team, Science World is also researching and developing teleconferencing events. New sets of classroom kits based on our popular Discovery Boxes, computer games, CD ROMS and Hypercard stacks will also make physical science fun for teachers and students.
